Efficient public transport is vital for the continued growth of the Western Australian economy and with investment in expansion of the urban rail network continuing via programs such as METRONET, the PTA needs the skill and commitment of a talented workforce.

The Role

The PTA is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced Fleet Technical Officer who will undertake technical investigations and vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with omnibus regulatory requirements and PTA's bus service contract obligations. The incumbent will be required to conduct field assessments on behalf of the Bus Fleet Management and participate in PTA general Bus Fleet management contract compliance auditing, and bus inspection tasks.

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Knowledge and experience with Australian Standards relevant to the bus industry and the Australian Design Rules;
  • A trade certificate in a related discipline and a thorough knowledge of related automotive trades;
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Excellent problem solving skills with a proven ability to analyse information and develop practical solutions to resolve complex technical problems in a transport environment;
  • The ability to work autonomously or within a team environment, and able to plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets;
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of a Microsoft data management and reporting functions within a computerised information management system.

You must have a current and valid Western Australian "HR" class drivers licence and be prepared to travel throughout the State involving overnight stays when required.

There is currently one permanent position available for filling on a full time basis.
