This position supports and collaborates across the agency on effective threat protection to ensure our cyber security defences are effective against contemporary and emergent threats. If you think you've got what we're looking for, we look forward to hearing from you.


It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to receive a waiver.

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than three (3) pages:

  1. Information Security Management skills - Utilising a wide range of security technologies to formulate protection against security incidents.
  2. Leadership and management skills - Providing leadership in promoting a security-aware culture. Developing and guiding activities of internal and vendor personnel. Managing resources to achieve value for the Agency.
  3. Analytical and conceptual skills - Anticipating, analysing and managing emerging issues to optimise performance. Leading in developing innovative solutions to complex problems.

Applicants are also required to submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant's ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.


Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
