Category Specialist - Technology - Global Mining Company - Open to candidates from different backgrounds

This Global Mining client is looking for a Category Specialist to join their highly talented Technology team. Purpose Reporting to the Manager, Category Management, you will take an important role in providing category expertise in ensuring the business’s supply needs strategically match with the market.

You will take responsibility for supplier management and development as well as contract administration and engage with the team to track and monitor performance targets of optimal cost of ownership and surety of supply.

Core accountabilities:

Category Management

  • Strong understanding of Category Management within Supply
  • Possesses exceptional commercial acumen, demonstrated through experience in sourcing and ongoing management
  • Assists with the development of innovative, value-driven category
  • Gathers market intelligence and analysis to input into category strategies
  • Develops strong relationships with internal business leaders and key stakeholders
  • Develops a sourcing plan aligned with category strategies
  • Works well with stakeholders and challenges appropriately to develop sourcing strategies and supply solutions accordingly.

Contract and Supplier Management
  • Creates market engagement strategies, negotiation plans and contract award recommendations
  • Identifies key suppliers in responsible sub-categories and determines appropriate supplier management regime
  • Develops relationships with identified key suppliers and works with stakeholders to design performance measures and track KPIs.

Skills and Experience
  • A comprehensive understanding of ICT Categories (Hardware and Software)
  • Strong negotiation experience
  • Ability to analyse complex business processes, risk factors and control systems.

The client is open to candidates from various backgrounds, not specifically procurement. So if you have a strong knowledge of IT and good commercial or legal skills then this might be the role for you. Working in a small and collaborative team, you will be based in Perth CBD with the option to work from home for half the week. This role is being offered on a permanent basis with a generous base salary, bonus and super.
