About The Role

NSM’s major contracts are known as ‘Material Subcontracts ’ in accordance with the terminology in our Head Contracts.

The Major Subcontract Manager has commercial accountability for management of NSM’s Material Subcontracts, including but not limited to Contract Management and Contract Administration. The Major Subcontract Manager will administer variations, and support on all commercial matters, assessing and managing or resolving commercial and financial risks against contractual obligations.

You will

  • Account Manage NSM Material Subcontracts
  • Monitor the performance of the Material Subcontracts and where necessary escalate issues and/or take corrective action
  • Ensure relevant Material Subcontract specific insurances and performance guarantees are in place
  • Manage Material Subcontractor insurances and warranty claims
  • Provide advice to the program team in relation to Material Subcontract rights and obligations, including ensuring obligations from supplier and customer contracts are understood by management and embedded into operational activity to minimise risk and ensure compliance
  • Provide advice to the program team in relation to Material Subcontract owned Intellectual Property (IP) and how this flows through from the Head Contract and impacts the Material Subcontracts and other subcontracts
  • Monitor and maintain the Material Subcontractor risk register
  • Compile, submit and negotiate Contract Change Proposals (CCP’s)
  • Report on status of Material Subcontract Deliverables, Milestones, CCP ‘s and Survey and Quote (S&Q)
  • Lead the Material Subcontract reporting
  • Lead Material Subcontract S&Q development, estimation, approval, and performance
  • Lead and contribute to a “Safety First” culture through leadership and participation in HSE activities and initiatives
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related commercial field or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Commercial Management, Contract Management or Senior Contract Administration roles
  • Experience in a procurement capacity
  • Experience of Government contracts
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
  • MUST be an Australian Citizen
  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence
  • Experience in Alliance and Joint Ventures
  • Experience in Maintenance and or Asset Management Contracts
  • Prior experience in Defence sector, specifically ASDEFCON contracting
  • Experience in SAP
  • Experience in legal desirable but not essential
