Job Description

As a member of the team, assist management in maintaining SGS’s capability to analyse soil, water and air samples. In particular, to provide assistance to the Sample Log-in operations and ensure timely services are provided. Also to conduct routine and non-routine analyses and to deliver quality and timely laboratory results.

Responsibilities will include, however are not limited to:

  • Ensure samples are identified, labelled and stored correctly.
  • Sub-sampling where necessary and packaging samples for courier.
  • Disposal of samples in accordance with appropriate procedures.
  • Record temperatures for sample storage fridges.
  • Ensure all samples are free of contamination during log-in and sub-sampling process.
  • Understanding of general laboratory QA/QC requirements.
  • Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through courses and on-the-job training to support improvement.
  • General housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Sample Administration Manager.
  • Ensure understanding of safe laboratory practices.
  • Compliant to all SGS OH&S and HR policies and procedure.


As the successful candidate you will have:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification (preferred)
  • Commercial laboratory experience (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Teamwork and cooperation
  • High level of integrity
