Seeking a passionate person with farming and cattle management experience to join this family run operation, to assist with property development under regenerative management principals.

Our client is a family owned and operated mixed farming and cattle breeding business located near Rolleston in the Central Highlands area of QLD. Passionate about Sustainable and Regenerative farming, they have a vision to develop this property to allow these systems to be implemented over the next few years.

Covering some 4,500 hectares there is 1,300 hectares under cultivation with half of this being for forage cropping and the other being for cereal production including wheat and sorghum. Running all modern GPS guided, well maintained machinery including camera sprayer (weedit) and a self-propelled spray rig to minimise chemical use and optimise efficiency.

The balance of the property is used for cattle grazing, and currently runs a total of around 1000 head. The herd is made up of 400 mixed breeders crossed to Droughtmaster bulls with progeny being retained and grazed holistically to finishing weights on the forage crops.

We are seeking an individual or a couple who have sound working knowledge and experience in all areas of a grazing and cropping operation with a genuine passion for regenerative agriculture. You will have a respectful and enthusiastic attitude and with a high level of attention to detail and pride in your work.

To be successful in this role you will have,

  • Experience in handling of cattle using horses calm calm/low stress methods while mustering and in yard work.
  • Good understanding of animal welfare requirements.
  • Ability to operate vehicles, machinery and equipment calmly and efficiently.
  • A range of practical skills for development and maintenance of farm infrastructure, water systems and fencing.
  • Experience in safe and efficient chemical application and knowledge of chemical groups and mixing an advantage.
  • Current driver’s license (MR/HC truck license an advantage)
  • Ability to maintain safe work practices and systems.
  • Good communication and record keeping skills with a good grasp of technology.
  • Own horses and working dogs an advantage.
  • Sober habits, non-smoker ideal.

The package will include a salary commensurate with skills and experience, work vehicle and comfortable housing suitable for families, couples, or singles. The property is close to town with access to tennis court swimming pool, primary school.
