To continue our success, our Quaker Oats team in Forrestfield - WA has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Oat Miller to plan, organise and control the functions of the Grain Handling Plant, Oat Cleaning Plant, Oat Mill and Rolling including the Packing operations to meet production schedules at optimum cost consistent with standards of safety, quality, productivity and reliability.

This position is on a continuous shift worker 16 week rotating roster , working 4 shifts on (comprising of 2 day shifts and 2-night shifts) and 4 days off .

You Will Be:
  • Ensuring that pre-operational equipment & process checks are completed and documented daily, and any issues identified are addressed prior to start-up
  • Actively participating in SQF / FSA internal audits
  • Developing an environment of teamwork and good employee relations within the department and with internal customers.
  • supervising Cleaning Staff assigned to work with the miller, in accordance with the duties requested by the Food Safety Team Leader.
  • Planning the Weekly Mill Production Schedule based on the weekly demand requirements.
  • Ensuring any Engineering issues relating to Milling operations are reported to the Engineering Manager as soon as is practical and recorded in accordance with the Engineering work order procedure.
  • Required to understand, participate, and comply with the requirements of SQF, AIBI and HACCP compliance and accreditation.
  • Required to understand the weighbridge operation, with the ability to accept the receival of grain and loading of by Product as required outside the standard weighbridge hours.


You Will Have:

  • Practical Engineering or Food Processing background with at least five years’ experience in production supervision in the Food or Milling Industry and be prepared to continue with formal training in Milling or Food Technology.
  • Strong technical understanding of milling equipment and plant operations in a Food or Milling environment.
  • Good people management skills, with the ability to supervise one’s sub-ordinates in such a manner to achieve their optimum performance through training, motivation of staff and leading by example.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A current Boiler Attendant Certificate.
  • A current Forklift Operators Certificate.
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Organisational skills, including the ability to plan and set priorities to tasks to meet schedules and agreed targets.
