The College is seeking applications for a Lead Educator to work in a full-time capacity for the Early Learning Centre at Moreton Bay College.

The Moreton Bay Colleges’ Early Learning Centre provides long-term day care for girls and boys aged from 15 months to 5 years. Our Centre is a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow and develop through a play based programme that places the child at the very centre of our philosophy, in all that we do. The children are encouraged to inquire, discover, create and explore their own thinking and theories about the world around them.

We design and implement play-based programmes to enhance and support the developmental needs of individual learners allowing each child to learn, grow and develop in their own time and in their own way. The centre operates from 6.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays) for 50 weeks of the year. The purpose-built facility includes four air-conditioned rooms and caters for up to 69 children.

  • Experience with working in the Early Childhood sector.
  • A strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National quality Standards (NQS).
  • Experience of embedding the Emilia Approach/ Inquiry learning
  • Ensuring that a developmentally appropriate program is planned, implemented and evaluated for each child.
  • Working in partnership with children and families to support learning outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families and staff.
  • Ensuring the records are maintained and are up to date concerning children in their care.
  • Nurturing each child and providing individual attention and comfort as required.
  • Willing to work as part of a team to provide high quality education and care for children.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ensuring a safe environment is provided for the children.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic.
  • Caring, responsive and intuitive.


  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent (Lead Educator)
  • Working with Children Suitability Card is essential.
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis


  • The ELC has a shared lunchroom and a shared desk/computer space.
  • This role can require a high level of physical activity and requires a physically capable individual.
  • On occasion there may be a need to lift a child (approx weight 15kg).
  • Excellent auditory and visual capacity is required because of child safety.


  • Wages are paid according to the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
  • Annual Leave, Sick Leave and Long Service Leave entitlements as per the EA.
  • The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement. On offer is an attractive superannuation co-contribution plan.
