Part Time Health Information Manager - IWAMHS

The Inner West Area Mental Health Service - Royal Melbourne Hospital (IWAMHS - RMH) is committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering holistic and evidence-based treatment, which is inclusive of family/carers and provided by clinicians with well-developed skills. Staff employed within the IWAMHS are expected to identify EB practice competencies and to use these in their clinical work



Your new team



  • Work alongside another part time Health Information Manager and a broader team of HIM’s across the NWMH Network

  • Provide guidance and support around managing health information to teams in the community, inpatient, residential, outpatient, emergency and several other specialist areas

  • Work collaboratively with the Systems and Data Analyst, Data Integrity Officer, multiple administration teams covering a diverse range of roles, executive and clinical leadership


Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • Ensuring Data collection, management and reporting complies with Health Service Agreements, organisational needs and DHHS reporting requirements.

  • Contributing to process improvement and monitoring with the goal of improving data integrity at the organisation

  • Provide advice and assistance in data collection and evaluation within the Area Mental Health Service

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise around the use and ongoing development of the CMI, the electronic medical record and other local databases.

  • Keep abreast of activities occurring across mental health and opportunities for mental health promotion by engaging with professional bodies such as the Victorian HIMAA Mental Health Advisory Group.

  • Provide guidance relating to medicolegal functions across the service


Your Contribution



  • A sound understanding of the Mental Health setting including relevant systems and legislation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate confidently in matters relating to Health Information to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Identify issues relating to data quality and implement required process changes
