The Victorian Government is working with the recycling industry to help it thrive and implement new policies to make Victoria’s economy more circular – to make better use of our natural resources and reduce waste.

We're looking for a talented Senior Policy Officer to join our dedicated and supportive team. You'll have the opportunity to lead and work on important projects and play a vital role in changing how we manage waste in Victoria.

As a key member of the Programs and High Risk Waste Branch, the Senior Policy Officer, Hazardous Waste leads and manages policy development and implementation of one of the actions under Recycling Victoria: A new economy (action 10.1: Hazardous Waste Policy and Planning) and supports the delivery of a number of related recommendations.

The Senior Policy Officer will report to the Manager, Hazardous Waste and Waste to Energy and will work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and deliver policies and programs to improve economic, social and sustainability outcomes from Victoria's waste and resource recovery sector and broader economy.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate qualification in public policy, science, economics, law, or equivalent is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in public policy development is desirable,
  • Demonstrated experience and / or knowledge of current issues and trends in hazardous and high-risk wastes, resource recovery, sustainability and broader environmental policy is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 December 2021.
