About the role

Your role is within the Family and Child Connect Service (FACC) and is vital to the success of early intervention, preventing children and families from entering the child protection system in the Wide Bay and Burnette Region.

Each day will be varied however, your key everyday responsibilities will include:

  • Creating networks within the community and raising awareness of the Family and Child Connect Service provided by Churches of Christ;
  • Working closely with key stakeholders in the area - Child Safety, Queensland Health, Department of Education/ Early Childhood/ Domestic & Family Violence providers and Police;
  • Developing and implementing strategies that enhance the communities' capacity to provide more efficient services to meet the requirements of vulnerable families.
  • Contributing to project management

Ultimately, your role will be to work collaboratively with the Family and Child Connect Service for Bundaberg and Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast Churches of Christ, to support the Child and Family Local Level Alliances, and key child protection and family support agencies.

Your input will help enhance service delivery to children and families, improve sector collaboration and support pathways for families to early intervention services.

We are open to offering the role as either Full time (76 hours per fortnight) or as Part time (0.6 FTE). The suitable candidate would need to be able to demonstrate the relevant qualifications and experience working with families with complex needs in order to be able to work full time within our services.

About you

You are a big picture thinker and enjoy the strategic level of thinking, facilitation and project development work. With excellent communication skills, you liaise well with a range of internal and external stakeholders and proactively work within the child protection sector to facilitate positive change. Your comprehensive knowledge of industry legislation, service requirements and culture of compliance will be essential.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications will include:

  • A recognised qualification in Social/Behavioural Sciences or related discipline or at least 5 years working in the Human Service sector;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within a Community Development capacity, preferably in relation to the provision of support services for vulnerable families;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, knowledge and understanding of both culture and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society;
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Queensland child protection system including relevant legislation such as the Child Protection Act 1999.
