Role: Senior Epidemiologist & Data Analyst (until 31 December 2021)

Position Summary:

The Senior Data Analyst/Epidemiologist will work closely with the Vaccinations & Testing, Data & Intelligence team responsible for COVID vaccine data, intelligence and reporting teams to ensure appropriate, consistent and comprehensive data and reporting processes, and epidemiological analysis and assessment across the program.


  • Support the delivery of full life-cycle project tasks across the Safety and Quality portfolio to meet program and departmental objectives
  • Provide thorough detailed data analysis and investigation, provide authoritative advice on trends, risks and issues and support business need.
  • Provide expert advice on the quality, accuracy, and relevance of data
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet, and agency submissions.
  • Undertake epidemiological investigations and analyses supporting an effective, efficient, and safe COVID vaccination program
  • Liaise with reporting and technical teams to support data collection and analysis, including preparation of briefs and presentations to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Maintain situational awareness of the evolving epidemiological issues relevant to the COVID-19 vaccine safety space with specific focus on safety and integrated vaccine surveillance systems
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the department and work in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Identify current and future data requirements trends and provide input into continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
