About the Role

Western Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to join Western Health’s Division of Aged, Cancer and Continuing Care Services in the role of Nurse Unit Manager - Sunshine Hospital, Ward GC (a specialised Dementia Management Unit and GEM ward). This is a fulltime permanent role.

The successful applicant will work in partnership with a strongly committed team to shape the provision, service development and implementation of high quality and efficient care to patients.

The Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for the leadership and management of a unique 32 bed ward that provides care to patient’s receiving Geriatric Evaluation Management care and highly specialised Dementia specific care in the Dementia Management Unit which is co-located within the ward. The position involves working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and taking responsibility for the provision of high quality nursing care to the patients within the unit.

The Nurse Unit Manager will foster a culture of inclusiveness, trust, flexibility, accountability and continuous quality improvement. The role will work collaboratively to ensure improvements and ideas support evidence based practice by delivering best care, ensuring a patient focused philosophy.

To be successful in this role you:

  • Possess current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

  • Have successfully completed of Post Graduate qualification in Management and or Health Care Leadership

  • Demonstrate excellent clinical and organisation skills

  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

  • Will be committed to providing best care to patients requiring GEM care

  • Will be experienced and motivated to work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a patient focused rehabilitation service
