The Payments Service Utility (PSU) brings together the process, people and technology assets supporting cheques, bulk electronic payments, merchant acquiring (including terminal technology), high value and international payments processing for CBA.

This role is part of the PSU Technology leadership team. PSU Technology is led by the General Manager Payments Technology and is accountable for CBA's Payments Technology, including strategy development, investment prioritisation, design integrity and modernisation through automation and partnering.

As the EM Retail Commerce Technology, you will be responsible for the teams’ leading and delivering the technology change across the merchant acquiring portfolio. You will have a number of EMs and Senior Managers reporting into you.

The team works to deliver exceptional outcomes for our business stakeholders and customers.

Do work that matters

The EM Retail Commerce Technology will report into the General Manager Payments Technology and work intimately with business leaders and technology partners. The EM Retail Commerce will:

  • Ensure the effective governance, prioritization, resourcing and delivery oversight of the Retail Commerce Portfolio (approximately $50mio) in addition to providing overall management support
  • Lead the delivery of a group of related projects and associated organisational changes to achieve business objectives and stated benefits using the right mix of waterfall and agile
  • Actively drive the adoption and embedding of the Payments and broader ES strategic agenda including the ongoing simplification and increased resilience of the technical assets that support Retail Commerce, agile and accentuating the shift to an effective workforce mix that supports the balance of IP, cost drivers and high velocity, high quality delivery
  • Grow and maintain relationships / networks within the Bank to support effective engagement at senior levels within the Bank (GM+) to influence and drive outcomes for the Group
  • Engage and embed business product teams and owners into the daily practices of the team, while working with peers to continue to optimise the end to end Customer outcome
  • Build a high performing team across Australia and India backed by a strong, results oriented and fun culture
  • Actively mature the risk culture of the team, buying down risk in a commercially viable way, whilst achieving compliance obligations
  • Work closely with the PSU Service management team to ensure the stability of the Retail Commerce platforms

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Demonstrated Technology delivery and operations experience in a large organisation, accountability for leading cross –disciplined teams (> 100 FTE), budgets (> $40m )
  • Design knowledge and broad experience across technology disciplines, including project management, IT strategy development, and business process, information, application and technology architecture
  • Experience working with external strategic partners and schemes (i.e. MasterCard, Visa, Eftpos, DxC)
  • Deep acquiring technology experience including working with payment terminals, payments software (i.e. payment applications) and operating systems
  • Experience working with product partners to deliver business outcomes across the payments value-chain
  • Strong people leader, and financial acumen
  • Strong record of embedding agile work practices and delivering in an agile environment
  • Technology or related tertiary qualifications
