Salary Rate: Casual HEW 1 ($32.91 per hour + 9.5% superannuation)

Location: Geelong Waurn Ponds

The Role:

Under the direction of the Senior Hospitality Team Leaders, this casual opportunity is to assist the front of house operations of Waurn Ponds Estate, including meeting room and dining room set ups/pack downs and general waiter service over lunch and dinner periods. The staff member will provide an excellent and consistent level of customer and hospitality service to all clients (visitors, guests, students and staff).

Principal accountabilities of a Casual Hospitality Assistant will be to:

  • Assist front of house and food and beverage services, maintain service standards and processes ensuring directed tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide a high level of customer service, ensuring clients are greeted professionally with a high standard of presentation, to ensure professional delivery of services.
  • Respond to all customer enquiries and communicate these efficiently to the Team Leader to create a memorable and professional experience for continued customer satisfaction

Please note that this position is based on a Monday to Sunday roster system and flexibility of hours is required on evenings and weekends, generally between 7am and 11pm.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Provide intuitive customer service that meets the requirements of individual guests and resolve issues as they arise in a timely manner
  • Liaise regularly with front of house, kitchen and housekeeping departments to ensure a professional level of communication is maintained
  • Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team, to accommodate and work well with different working styles and to work independently where required

Special requirements:

  • Working with Children Check
  • Previous hospitality experience and proven technical abilities in the key areas of responsibility as listed below
  • Previous conference room setup experience* (desirable)

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Casual staff employed at Waurn Ponds Estate will be expected to perform the following typical duties:

  • Preparation and maintenance of function and meeting rooms, including set up and pack down of furniture
  • Timely and professional delivery of any required catering
  • Professional discretion and respect when entering meeting rooms to deliver catering requirements
  • Stocking of tea and coffee stations and ensuring communal catering areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Making of Barista Coffee as required* (desirable)
  • Food and beverage service including; a la carte Bistro and corporate event catering
  • Effectively work with Senior Hospitality Team Leader, to ensure tasks are completed on time and to expected standards
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative where appropriate
  • Any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of the position.
