JOB DESCRIPTION

Whizdom is working with a Federal Government client looking for experienced policy officers for two roles at APS5/6 levels for the Evaluation and Assurance Section of the Environment Assessments Division in Canberra.

About the Role:

The Department requires candidates to contribute to business process improvements within a regulatory setting particularly in relation to improving quality assurance and quality control processes for statutory decision making. Some of the duties across the positions include but are not limited to:

Preparation and implementation of plans and strategies relating to (performance) audit and quality

  • assurance of procedures, policies and statutory decisions.
  • Organisation of, and participation in, consultation with staff and senior executive across the division.
  • Preparation and regular review of project management documents and other reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to policy development and identifying opportunities for business process improvement.
  • Administrative duties to support the work of the section, including organisation of meetings, record keeping and maintenance of project management documents.
  • Experience in environment regulation and/or environment assessment desirable

Candidates will fill positions across two teams; specific skills required for each team are:

About You:

Quality Controls Team – APS 6

  • Experience developing and implementing quality controls for process and procedures
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Secretariat experience desirable Experience implementing regulation and / or working in regulatory policy is desirable

Templates Team - APS 5/6

  • Experience interpreting legislation and translating regulatory requirements into a regulatory and policy setting
  • Demonstrated organisation and planning skills including ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Experience in coordinating and providing administrative support with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience implementing regulation and / or working in regulatory policy is desirable

Contract term: Initial contract till 31 December 2021

Contract extensions: Possibility of 1 x 6 months options to extend

Eligibility/Other Requirements: To be eligible for temporary employment within the Australian Public Service you must be an Australian citizen.

Hourly Pay Rate: Negotiable

Estimated start date: ASAP
