What's the opportunity 


As a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing, supporting and growing data visualization capabilities within The BI & Analytics team and across Vocus sales, support and operational teams in line with the company strategy.


In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the success of the full suite of Tableau applications across the organization. As a thought leader you will use your extensive knowledge of Tableau Desktop, Prep, Conductor and Server to deliver on the team’s visualization program of work as well as support our business users on a wide variety of use cases and issues. You will also be responsible for supporting and managing these applications to ensure the overall optimization, health, and continued high performance of the services. You will contribute to strategic planning for Tableau and enhancing the business intelligence and insights capabilities.

You will bring a vast array of technical data skills to assist in building the required data models to support the Tableau visualizations.




What you’ll be doing in the role:


  • Develop and maintain the Key Tableau reporting requirements of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Working with data scientists, data engineers, business users and business managers to identify and develop Tableau use cases
  • Provide timely data extracts and insights to the business as required
  • Develop and maintain data models on existing Data Warehouse (AWS Redshift) required for visualizations in Tableau
  • Maintain old legacy reporting systems and develop and implement transition plans into Redshift and Tableau
  • Develop standardized practices for delivering Tableau products and capabilities, including data acquisition and visualization
  • Ensure Tableau practices integrate into overall data architectures and data management principles (e.g. data governance, data security, metadata, data quality)
  • Data access and security - Create/Manage Groups, Workbooks and Projects, Database Views, Data Sources and Data Connections
  • Assess and implement new technologies and processes
  • Provide support, respond to problems quickly and provide both short and long term resolutions
  • Involved with the investigation and resolution of complex data, system, and software issues
  • Design, development and administration of dashboards to monitor system performance
  • Perform maintenance, ongoing enhancements and monitoring of dashboards



What you will need to be successful: 


  • Candidate must have worked in Australia previously and have Permanent Residency (or an equivalent visa status)
  • 6+ years' experience working in Senior data analytics roles
  • 4+ years of hands on experience as a Tableau Dashboard developer
  • 4+ years’ experience in writing and tuning complex SQL queries, Views and Stored Procedures
  • Experience and demonstrated capability working in the AWS environment (with services such as Redshift, S3 and Presto) or a similar environment eg Azure, Google Cloud
  • Experience in working with relational databases (such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL)
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with customers, senior management and other technical teams
  • Experience determining and prioritizing your own work tasks, including identifying and proposing new work
