Position Information

Ruse Public School is located in South Western Sydney and has a student enrolment of 438. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. In 2020 we established a Support Unit, taking an additional 21 students in two Multicategorical classes and one Moderate/Autism class. We have seen an increasing trend of students with an EAL/D background, which currently sits at 28%. 8% of EAL/D families are from Arabic speaking backgrounds, which is growing and is our largest group. We have 8% Aboriginal students, an increase from 5% over the past 2 years.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach infants and/or primary with a demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of high quality, innovative literacy and numeracy programs based on expert curriculum knowledge and evidence based practices.

2. Ability to lead staff to evaluate learning using data driven processes, ensuring the provision of quality, differentiated teaching in literacy and numeracy.

3. Ability to lead and implement whole school inclusive well-being initiatives, catering for the needs of a diverse school community.

4. Evidence of collaborative leadership and the ability to build positive partnerships with the wider school community.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
