About the Role

  • Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Services (IVPRS) are responsible for strategic leadership, clinical service provision and capacity building for the portfolio areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, child protection and victims of crime. 
  • The Sexual Assault Counsellor is responsible for the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted or who are under the age of 10 years with problematic and sexually harmful sexual behaviours, and their non-offending family members.

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australia Association of Social Workers, or degree in Psychology with evidence of registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics and effects of sexual assault and best practice models for working with children, young people and adults who have experienced sexual abuse/ trauma.
  3. Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between issues of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection
  5. Demonstrated experience working with people who have experienced interpersonal trauma
  6. Demonstrated experience/knowledge of Child Protection responding and reporting responsibilities
  7. Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
