Where you'll be working
Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Health Promotion. The position will be based at Macquarie Hospital (North Ryde) relocating to Brookvale Community Health Centre in 2021..

What you'll be doing
This role will contribute towards improving the health and wellbeing of the school years population in NSLHD by supporting local delivery of the NSW Healthy Children Initiative, Live Life Well at School Program. The role includes developing relationships with local primary schools and support staff to establish health promoting school environments. This may include engaging key stakeholders, delivering presentations, contributing to the development and implementation of innovative initiatives and collection and analysis of data to support program evaluation.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health promotion, public health, education, community development or an allied health discipline. 
  3. Knowledge and experience in working with one of the Healthy Children Initiative settings: primary schools, preschools, long day care, family day care and/or knowledge and experience of evidenced based population wide approaches to overweight and obesity prevention and how they can be applied in different settings.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management including planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion initiatives related to improving the health and wellbeing of populations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with a range of stakeholders (Education sector, local council, government or non-government organisations or community groups) and ability to develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  6. Demonstrated effective organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines and an ability to work as part of a team as well as independently to deliver agreed outcomes.
  7. Demonstrated excellent communication skills and negotiation skills as well as demonstrated competencies in data management (ability to accurately collect, enter and analyse data) and computer skills
