An exciting opportunity exists for a health professional with a passion for improving the social wellbeing of the population through health promotion strategies, to join the energetic and innovative Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Health Promotion Service.

What you'll be doing

The Northern Sydney Health Promotion Service works to improve the health and wellbeing of the people living in Northern Sydney in line with the Northern Sydney Population Health Improvement Plan. This position works within the Social Wellbeing portfolio, which currently focusses on family and domestic abuse and gambling related harm alongside mental health. This involves cultivating partnerships, advocating for primary prevention, leading and supporting community participation and implementing and evaluating Social Wellbeing initiatives across Northern Sydney.

This is a part-time permanent position with flexible working arrangements available.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrate these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in health promotion, public health, community development, sociology or other health related areas.
  3. Proven project management skills including the ability to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion projects that address social wellbeing.
  4. Strong relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and facilitate collaborative action.
  5. Demonstrated organisational skills including managing competing priorities, problem solving and an ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  6. High level communication skills with demonstrated capacity to prepare reports and submissions, as well as plan and deliver presentations and educational workshops.
  7. Ability to gather, evaluate and synthesise available evidence within relevant health promotion areas e.g. domestic abuse and gambling.
  8. Commitment and understanding of advocacy and social justice principles.
