JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description

Leader needed for our next people experience chapter

We’re a business with a purpose, a not for profit who is doing good in our community. We hold the firm belief that our workplace culture is the engine for our success.

We exist with the sole purpose to empower learners to access education that is right for them. We have and need more unique people to come together to do important work. The work can be uncertain, changing, complicated, and emotive; so you will need to thrive in this type of adaptive environment and will bring your energy, enthusiasm and passion to make a difference.

We believe that education has the power to transform individuals, their families and communications, and should be accessible to all. But we don’t save this for the board room, we don’t have it written on a whiteboard. We live it every day. Our mission is to serve the community and the greater good and continually improve the experience for our partners and students. We have big ambitions and we continually strive to achieve them together. We don’t look for the big bang transformation program, because we know change happens every day through experimentations, iterations and doing the reps. We work in teams, sharing ideas, empathy and information freely so that we collectively contribute to each other’s success and helping everyone be at their best.

Here’s what a normal day might look like for you.

  • You won’t work in just one team, you will be in tune with what’s needed and use your skills of empathy, coaching, and energy where it is needed at the time.
  • Your team and your colleagues will be facing personal and professional challenges and they’ll need your support. You won’t just rely on external providers, you will be open, and in the trenches on important things that matter.

  • You’ll create the learning environments for people to be step in, to fill your gaps and be looking for ways to help contribute to their development and making them better.

  • You’ll look for feedback and be a growth leader that inspires others to look for feedback too. You’ll recognise and look for moments that can create feedback loops in your teams and in the organisation.

  • You’ll have a realisation that the problem a team is trying to solve is not the real problem. This leads to a breakthrough that makes the impact of the work you do so much more meaningful.

  • You’ll make time for people. You’ll know what’s going on in their lives and check in with them.

  • You’ll check in and keep in tune with your trade to help inspire them to bring their best selves to their teams.

  • You will work with leaders from across the organisation to listen, to challenge and have a voice into our culture and mission.

Here are some of the ways you will bring your best to this role

  • You are committed to building a trade (practice), not a function. You’ll enjoy spending more time coaching rather than directing work. We don’t need a manager of functions, we need a servant leader.
  • You embody a deep self-awareness which is the result of lived experience and lessons learned.
  • You demonstrate the courage to be vulnerable.
  • You will look for ways to evolve our ways of working, find ways to bring this to life into each touch point of our culture and employee experience.
  • You recognise that culture isn’t just one person’s job to do, but you will live and breathe it and look for more ways to cultivate it, every day.
  • You go deep on empathy and compassion.
  • Your behaviours demonstrate a growth mindset.
  • You have a willingness to learn and to share insights and experience from your hard earned wisdom.
  • You have a generous sense of humour and don’t take yourself, or others too seriously.

So, what will you be doing in this role?
As a member of different teams, you will be thinking and acting not only in your best interests, but with the needs of those we serve in mind. You will learn, grow, contribute, create and evolve.

You will have a strong sense of accountability for the whole People Experience trade and can hold the balance between accountability and empowerment. You will find ways to push others to grow into different areas. You aren’t protective about information but understand the difference between being an advisor and being transparent.

Right now, there are few areas of focus that this role is leading. Though, this will change as our needs change. Today as we write this what we need you to focus on are:

  • Being a coach, servant leader and mentor to the members of the PX trade. Inspiring and creating development opportunities to foster a best-in-class People Experience trade.
  • Setting up the practices and systems for an employee experience that reinforces our culture at every touch point and enables people to do their best work.
  • Developing a diverse talent strategy and model to ensure we are building on the culture with each hire and are attracting diverse people who can do their best work.
  • Providing servant leadership to the OUA Experience Tribe (collection of teams) to improve OUA’s how we work and our effectiveness; and
  • Inspiring the organisation, the People Experience trade, and people through effective storytelling and truly living our values.

Above all else, you’ll be a good human that has unique greatness, skills and some edges to go with it.

If you don’t tick all the boxes, but you think you have the right attitude, motivations and drive to be a good fit for this role take that step and talk to us.

The next chapter is here, ready for you.
