Your new company

My client has a diverse range of contracts and specialises within Commercial, Infrastructures, Residential in the heart of Melbourne CBD. This consultancy is one of the highest regarded specialist consultancies which is how they have retained such a loyal client base over the years. This multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy have a strong market reputation for being innovative, progressive and at the forefront of their field. Having recently expanded their Civil project portfolio, they are now seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join the team.

Your new role

Due to this positive outlook they have made a strategic decision to employ a Civil Drafter to assist with delivering residential, commercial and industrial subdivisions projects. The successful candidate must have proven and relevant experience in these areas. It is essential that you have previously worked on Australian based subdivision projects using either Microstation or AutoCAD. Excellent communication is essential as you will be required to liaise with local authorities and colleagues.

  • Produce drawings using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) or drafting machines, or by hand using compasses, dividers, protractors, triangles and other drafting devices.
  • Draw maps, diagrams, and profiles, using cross-sections and surveys, to represent elevations, topographical contours, subsurface formations and structures.
  • Determine the order of work and method of presentation, such as orthographic or isometric drawing.
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for structures, installations, and construction projects such as highways, sewage disposal systems, and dikes, working from sketches or notes.
  • Create graphical representations of civil structures.
  • Estimate technical or resource requirements for development or production projects.
  • Prepare procedural documents
  • Thorough understanding of Australian civil design codes.
  • Exposure to civil works - ideally working in the VIC market
  • Experience with civil design software packages
  • Civil design experience with road and / or drainage works.
