    The Role

    This role is fundamental in fulfilling Big W’s FY21-24 strategic ambition, to become a purpose-led digital retailer enabled by a great store network. This year, our Team has made a pivotal impact on the web by upgrading our technology to enable a five-star digital experience for our customers. With rapidly growing online sales, we are building plans to accelerate the evolution of our Digital business, which will involve the launch of state-of-the-art mobile apps to our customers.

    As our first Mobile Technical Lead, you will lead the engineering team responsible for this high profile initiative.

    You have a very customer-centric approach - everything that the customer sees and interacts with is of paramount importance to you and your Team. Every detail matters and you strive to help the Team achieve outstanding digital customer experience.

    You are a technologist at heart, have a growth mindset and always push yourself and the Team to learn more, to refine the way we work and pursue excellence. You have an engineering mindset - you embrace challenges with a very solution focused approach, you can brainstorm solutions and advocate for an approach by communicating effectively.

    Responsibilities Would Include
    • Build, within the mobile squad, a robust, testable & maintainable iOS application for BigW end-users from the ground up.
    • Deliver across the iOS app life cycle – concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to App Store and support.
    • Collaborate with the Team to implement a strong CI/CD pipeline to ensure we build well, detect problems early, provide effective feedback and automate the testing and deployment process.
    • Contribute to the Team to bring best-in-class iOS practices
    • Collaborate with other engineers, your Technical Lead and Engineering Manager to help the Team create and maintain a robust codebase for the iOS app as well as a robust framework to support the iOS app.


    About You

    In this role, you are looking to apply your skills within an elite team of extremely collaborative engineers that trust, respect, and highly value each other to shoot for excellence and have great fun working together in that journey.

    Some Other Experiences Would Include
    • Minimum 5 or more years professional experience with iOS development.
    • Experience in large-scale mobile development projects that require building complex User Interfaces and delivering outstanding performance for the end-user.
    • A dedication and a keen interest in building applications that unlock outstanding digital experiences.
    • Exceptional communication & problem solving skills, with a solution-focused mindset
    • A very strong understanding of data structures & algorithms.
    • Extremely proficient in Swift.
    • A very strong experience in writing clean testable code and capability with BDD, TDD patterns & frameworks.
    • A strong understanding of best CI/CD mobile practices, unit testing and experience with automation tools such as XCTest.
    • Strong experience with Clean Architecture and presentation patterns such as MVVM, MVC and MVP.
    • Great familiarity with SwiftUI, Combine and Reactive Programming in general.
    • Experience with Clean Architecture is highly valued.
    • Preliminary knowledge and experience building multiplatform mobile applications sharing code with Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM), writing Common Kotlin logic such as business logic, connectivity and sharing it with native iOS and Android targets.
    • Agile software delivery experience
