Job Summary

The position is based in Sydney and reports to SRAP Australian Branch General Manager.

  • Senior Property Underwriter for P&C Treaty:
    • Underwriting of all Property Treaty business in conjunction with fellow branch Property Underwriter, one Pricing Actuary and one Team Assistant.
    • Client Relationship Management of regional key client(s) of the branch with involvement in Client Relationship Manager of one Global Client.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Leadership role in relation to ANZ property treaty property. This includes business analysis, cat exposures monitoring, portfolio profile analysis, pricing with dedicated actuaries, terms and share negotiations in compliance with underwriting guidelines and delegated authority, claims and results follow-up.
  • Has the technical expertise to conduct underwriting and claims reviews with selected cedants in order to both assess our clients’ underwriting strengths and weaknesses and follow-up our exposures in Commercial Lines and Property.
  • Will follow-up the handling / reserving of large claims together with our claims department including reporting for purpose of internal retrocession.
  • Good marketing and representation skills - meets with existing and potential clients
  • Is capable to act as a Client Relationship Manager for other lines of business and / or cedants delegated by the General Manager
  • Is capable to act as the deputy to the General Manager and has the potential to grow into the role as a possible successor
  • Has the personality, flexibility and team spirit to work for and contribute to the Australian team’s overall performance and success.


Required experience & competencies
  • Minimum of 10 years’ business experience in Primary and/or Reinsurance underwriting or broking companies, preferably in Australia, with a proven track record in underwriting or broking P&C Property business.
