The Retail Credit Decisioning (RCD) team is a GO utility function that supports Retail Banking Services (RBS) lending teams (including Third Party Banking) by making responsible credit risk decisions within the Bank’s risk appetite statement and regulatory framework following a standard credit process with the focus on enhancing the financial wellbeing of our customer’s.

RCD is responsible for the credit assessment of all retail loan applications completed within the RBS Group which are unable to be automatically assessed via the Bank’s credit scoring systems. This includes new home loan, personal loan, personal overdraft, credit card applications and variation on existing retail lending loans such as partial discharge, consents and switching requests. Additionally, all Broker originated home loan applications are assessed by the team.

Credit Variations

This team is responsible for assessing requests to vary the security position of existing home loan facilities.

Your responsibilities:

Reporting to the Team Manager Credit Variations, this role will see you responsible for the assessment and final decisions for secured and unsecured Consumer Credit referrals. These will be received via the Proprietary and/or Third Party Channel.

The objective of this role is to ensure accurate and effective credit decisions are made in a consistent, efficient and timely manner and to deliver excellent customer service. This will be achieved through the adherence to Sales and Service strategies, Risk policies and procedures, support and active commitment to the credit training and your development, including active participation in cultivating positive behaviours and supportive language.

The role will work closely with all business partners, internal and external as there is a strong reliance on collaboration and team work. Effective use of all resources available within Credit Services Nationally will be utilised to achieve optimum team results.

A thorough understanding of the Group Risk framework, practices and policies will be critical and understanding how these apply to the operational team for support and ongoing management will be expected.

Ensure you understand the contributions to the business and profit, ensuring quality and responsible credit risk decisions are made in a consistent manner in line with the strategic direction of the organisation.

Ensure compliance within delegated authorities and internal and external compliance / audit requirements which may include adherence to government/governing body legislative policies.

Adherence to the guidelines established within your personal PCAA delegation.

Act within the Group Risk framework of CBA

Ensure policy, systems, tools and procedures are in line with RBS Risk Management expectations, thereby ensuring optimal execution of credit risk management strategies and adherence to credit competency guidelines.

Management of financial and business costs that you are directly involved with, adhering to guidelines and/or directions. This may include such items as general expenses, gifts and entertainment register notification and/or stationary and store requirements.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

Experience working in a retail credit environment

Experience of the Bank’s home loan origination process (including knowledge of CommSee Home Loans (CHL), CommSee Top Ups (CTU) and CommSee Home Loan Maintenance (CHLM).

Strong understanding of Bank’s credit policy and how it is applied.

Experience in stakeholder management

Results orientation and commitment to excellence

Professional presentation and time management skills

Capability in assessing complex company, multi entity trust deals with full financial assessment

Industry related tertiary qualifications are an advantage but not mandatory

Personal Credit Underwriting Authority to decision credit applications, including an assessment of serviceability.

Experience with Variation’s matters would be an advantage but not mandatory (partial discharges, substitutions, consent matters etc)
