This is an exceptional opportunity to work closely within a high energy and fast paced business to advance the use of data driven insights. As a Data Analyst within our Markets Client Insights team, you will be working within the business to make it easier and faster for the team to extract value from data.

The Client Insights team works with Markets Sales on a broad range of data, including high frequency time series client event and market tick data, market asset metadata, and unstructured text and sales deal input information. Data stores range from spreadsheet, through to object-oriented and large relational and SQL based data stores.

The role will require you to work with the Sales, Client Insights, Technology teams and other stakeholders to understand the data, including any existing data integrity and timeliness concerns. It will also involve use of ETL and ELT across disparate datasets in order to efficiently manage and meet both batch processing and streaming data requirements. You will also work across teams to deliver best practice in in establishing data lineage, data integrity and control and governance frameworks.

  • Willingness to work across the whole data processing spectrum, contributing to improved methods of collection and data quality.
  • Degree in Computer Science, preferably at post graduate level and with a strong emphasis on database management.
  • Previous experience in a data engineering or technology roles focussed on construction and maintenance of data pipelines.
  • Strong awareness of data governance principles and willingness to work closely with our data governance and data management teams to continue to develop a best practice data framework within Markets.
  • A commercial approach, aligning our data efforts to business growth and efficiency.
What will be in your toolkit
  • Strong capability in Python.
  • Working across both relational and object-oriented database environments, such as SQL, NoSQL and S3.
  • Working with data processing and scheduling tools such as Apache Spark, parquet file format and Airflow.
  • Experience in AWS data-oriented services like SageMaker
  • Knowledge and/or experience with KDB/q is an advantage but not essential.
