We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join the Critical Communications team for BAI Australia in this newly established position.
The Risk and Emergency Event Planner is a key role spanning and supporting multi-functional areas within the Critical Comms team. They have overall responsibility for continual environmental scanning, situational awareness and planning for all planned and unplanned Emergency events and incidents in NSW. They also own and maintain the Risk Register and Business Continuity Plans used to support the management of the PSN.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership and ongoing maintenance of the Risk Register, conducting regular review meetings with both TA and internal staff.
  • Develop, own and maintain the Business Continuity Plans required to support the Critical Comms business, conducting regular review meetings with both TA and internal staff.
  • Develop, plan and participate in tests and exercises to maintain preparedness, demonstrate the validity of the BCP and improve coordination.
  • Responsible for conducting near-term, mid-term, and long-term analysis, providing current intelligence to Crtitical Comms leadership team, as well as support to operational planning.
  • Provide situational awareness of Environmental threats such as bushfires, storm and other weather-related events to enable and support pro-active, reactive and crisis action planning
  • Prepare, integrate, brief and publish broad and complex all-source intelligence studies, papers, briefings, and assessments in coordination with the Telco Authority (TA), Telco
  • Emergency Management Unit (TEMU) and other User Agencies on known NSW related issues, to inform and support senior decision makers in budgeting, operational, planning, and policy decisions.
  • Author Situational Awareness daily briefing reports.
  • Serve as SME to support planned exercises, training events and crisis response operations as required, supervising others actions during exercises and provide feedback and after action reporting.
  • Work closely with Security Compliance and ITSM teams to identify and analyse short-turnaround reports on Cyber threat issues.
  • During major incidents and Emergency Events, triage information from a variety of resources and conduct initial analysis of the incidents and events.
  • Support and contribute to the preparation and delivery of verbal and written Post Incident Reviews (PIRs)
  • Support, establish, and continue a strong working relationship with TA operations, TEMU and appropriate departments within Emergency Service Agencies conducting all-source analysis and reporting, and provide a functional perspective with NSW emphasis on relevant existing and emerging threats.
  • Support preparation and delivery of briefings, papers, and presentations as requested by customer.
  • Attend relevant meetings as required in support of analysing and planning.
With a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with risk and business continuity management and planning or in the Emergency Management Environment, you will have strong leadership skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple, concurrent activities with short turn-around times with multiple internal and external customers.

With an awareness of the Endsley model for Situational Awareness, you will have post-qualification experience in an operational or technical environment with experience of Telecommunications P25 Radio, and have some knowledge of operating under an ITIL Service Management Framework, emergency management operations, and background knowledge on critical infrastructure sectors.

Your ability to analyse complex data will stand you in good stead with your excellent written and verbal communication skills, where you must be able to demonstrate your expertise to conduct research, analysis, and technical writing skills and be able to perform triage on questions, issues, or events involving the States critical infrastructures and key resources.

In addition, you will be capable of synthesizing, synopsizing, and presenting information at an executive level, and be comfortable operating during high-tempo mission critical operations. You will possess a general understanding of cyber security and cyber related current events and how they could impact critical infrastructure and be equipped on how to implement Social Media as an intelligence gathering tool.
