Job Description

SGS Woodie Woodie has an opportunity available for an experienced Laboratory Technician/Shift Supervisor to join their minerals laboratory on a full-time basis. As a Laboratory Technician/Shift Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the laboratory operations for your shift ensuring the timely and quality analysis of samples by your staff whilst maintaining adherence to safety standards.

As a Laboratory Technician/Shift Supervisor your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise and lead staff in the sample prep and laboratory areas.
  • Maintain records pertaining to sample submission, sample preparation and archiving.
  • Monitor production levels and quality and drive increases and improvements where required
  • Train staff to maintain and improve their knowledge to be able to contribute towards progression of the laboratory.
  • Liaise and meet with clients regarding work progress and coordinate client requests.
  • Prepare and verify analysis results and deliver them to the client in a timely manner.
Qualifications

As the successful candidate you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff
  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or similar
  • Previous experience working in a Minerals laboratory
  • Experience in XRF laboratory work and chemical knowledge
  • Prior knowledge of quality systems
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
