About the opportunity:

We are looking for a Product Owner to join our Merchant squad to help us create and enhance our external facing products. You will work closely with our product managers, technologists, security and operations team on product rollouts as well as helping to facilitate collaboration across the business.

The ideal candidate is a strategic problem solver, eager learner, and well-rounded cross-functional team player ready to tackle challenges in the Buy Now Pay Later space. In this role, you will develop a clear understanding of payments platform, processes and rules within the products in the business services space; and drive innovation and enhanced merchant experience.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Write detailed product requirements for features planned in the Sprint planning sessions.
  • Define acceptance criteria for User stories/features.
  • Review progress of completed User stories and requirement definition prior to development, with the relevant stakeholders for consistency and overall development needs
  • Review and validate the requirements/user stories developed by IT Security, Credit Risk, Fraud and vendors for development
  • Communicate trade-offs between initial requirements and engineering realities to Product Management team and focus on prioritization.
  • Participate in all Agile team meetings including product backlog planning, sprint planning, daily stand-up, and sprint retrospective.
  • Be responsible for the sprint demos delivered to key stakeholders to gather valuable feedback and validate design.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog based on input from product stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the scrum team on the functional features and get a clear understanding of the logged work, estimation, and monitor overall progress during the daily meetings with the team.
  • Undertake high level business analysis to Identify and manage risks and dependencies.
  • Validate and test functionality and quality of released deliverables.

What you'll need to have:
  • Previous experience of at least 3 - 5 years working with cross-functional software development teams in an agile environment working on web, .NET and API technologies
  • Proven ability to author thorough, detailed, high-quality documentation of all aspects of the systems in question
  • Experience running discovery workshops with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong experience with user stories, product backlogs, epics, story cards, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills
  • Good understanding of commercial, retail, ecommerce, financing domains and mobile/web development
  • Proactive approach, continuously seeking ways to achieve business and technology alignment, ability to think outside the box and solve problems creatively
  • Experience using Azure devops
  • A degree from a reputable University in Computer Science or similar
  • Self-starter with high energy, motivation and focus on achieving targets
  • A positive attitude; flexible and open to change
  • Previous experience in a payments or Fintech industry would be highly regarded
