This is an exciting opportunity to be part the TAFE NSW Product & Quality team.

The Quality Control Officer is responsible for undertaking a range of quality control activities to ensure assessment, teaching and learning products meet predetermined quality and regulatory standards. There are multiple newly created temporary roles available for full-time or part-time hours until 30 June 2022 with the potential to extend, as well as further opportunities likely in the future. These roles can be based anywhere in NSW with options to work virtually and have flexible start dates. The maximum package of $111,732.50 including salary ($84,918- $100,708), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

As Quality Control Officer, you will be part of a centralised team of 250 in Product Planning, Product Design, and Development & Implementation, which is responsible for training and assessment strategies, assessments and learning resources. TAFE NSW has 600 qualifications on scope, each of which may contain up to 60 units, delivered face-to-face, online, or in blended/connected learning.

Reporting to the Head of Product Quality, this position will:

  • Undertake assigned reviews of product outputs (including Training and Assessment Strategies, assessment tools and teaching and learning resources) at key product development stages and decision points to verify if product components meet required quality standards.
  • Provide input and advice on regulatory requirements and quality standards in the product development process in order to ensure robust, customer centric and fit-for-purpose products.
  • Lead the quality control activities for final approvals for assigned products required for Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Scope of Registration and Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) registration to meet registration requirements.
  • Implement and maintain quality frameworks, systems and technologies within the Product and Quality Group.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing and reporting on quality issues and trends.
  • Update and maintain and continuously evaluate product quality artifacts (templates, guides, checklists etc.) in order to ensure quality and consistency in development and effective guidance for staff within Product Development.
  • Coordinate training and workshops for product development teams to support the achievement of product development improvements and best practices.
  • Perform additional quality control activities including sampling, checking, and tracking and monitoring to proactively identify gaps, risks and issues, and recommend remediation strategies and solutions as required.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop templates, checklists and tools and implement any associated quality control initiatives and/or improvements.

If you have….

  • Appropriate Degree or Diploma at AQF levels 5-8 or equivalent and demonstrated experience in education and product development and quality reviews. Additionally, TAE40116 Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment or TAE40110 Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment including the following units of competency TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools and TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills or its successor.
  • Auditor qualifications or equivalent experience in quality reviews.
  • Demonstrated application of knowledge of key standards informing educational product requirements (higher education, RTO Standards, training package requirements, licensing/accreditation bodies)
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of pedagogy and customer experience in product development and /or delivery.
  • Ability to address and meet the six focus capabilities as stated in the Position Description.
