Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

About the Role

The School Administrative Manager is responsible for the efficient management of school financial and administrative systems, as well as supervision and training of school administration officers. Manages the provision of support for school activities and routines, including student welfare and wellbeing, and works with the school principal, the school executive and teaching staff as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.
  • Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Selection Criteria

  2. Capacity to supervise staff.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to exercise initiative, organise resources and meet deadlines.
  4. Demonstrated ability to undertake financial and accounting responsibilities including use of computerised financial/administrative systems.

  6. Demonstrated ability to manage an office.
  7. Ability to interact with school staff, students and members of the school community.
  8. Knowledge of and commitment to the department’s Aboriginal education policies

Riverstone High School is a co-educational 7-12 high school situated in the northwest growth corridor of Sydney and is one of four high schools in the Nirimba Collegiate. As of 2021, Riverstone High School has a year 11 cohort and will return to a full 7-12 setting in 2022.

There are currently 503 students enrolled, including 56 Aboriginal students and 53 students in the well-regarded Support Unit, comprising of two classes for students with mild intellectual disability and three multi-categorical classes. The school has strong links with partner primary schools at Riverstone, Schofields, Marsden Park and Vineyard, has two new partner primary schools in Galungara PS and Northbourne PS and is an integral member of the Nirimba Learning Community. Riverstone High School is strongly supported by the local community, with many students having a multi-generational connection to the school. Rapid expansion of local infrastructure and a school refurbishment program are having a significant impact on the school community and enrolments are expected to continue to increase.
