Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a dynamic Clinical Nurse Consultant to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital!

Do you have current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field?

Do you hold approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to the specialty or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate?

Nursing Services are seeking a suitably qualified registered nurse with demonstrable knowledge and experience in evidence based mental health nursing, clinical and quality frameworks and clinical leadership skills. This Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 (CNC2) position is employed by the SLHD MH Nursing Service and works as part of the Perinatal Mental Health Liaison Team based at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). The intention of the CNC2 will be a specific focus on supporting the, assessment, management and care of individuals experiencing mental illness or distress during the perinatal phase at RPAH. The CNC2 will be required to work in close collaboration with medical and mental health clinicians to ensure the best physical and mental health outcome for the individual being cared for. The CNC2 will ensure the safe and effective transition of patient care throughout the health service either within the general hospital, community or inpatient mental health settings.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty through the delivery of specialist consultant service which:

  • Develops implements and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs
  • Provides leadership in the ongoing development of clinical practice
  • Initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services.
  • Contributes to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs
  • Participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service.
