Do you want to be a part of transforming NSW’s building and construction industry with the NSW Building Commissioner? 

We have up to four Project Officer roles available 
• Base salary starting from $97,443 per annum plus superannuation (7/8 clerk grade)
• Based in Sydney with flexible working supported
• 3 year temporary contract

The Office of Building Commissioner is implementing ‘Construct NSW’, a once-in-a-lifetime reform program that will deliver NSW a nation-leading building and construction industry that values quality and puts the customer at the centre. 

Construct NSW is focused around six pillars of activity:
1. Ensuring a customer-focused regulator environment
2. Establishing ratings systems to provide greater information transparency
3. Lifting skills and capability to modernise the workforce
4. Strengthening contracts and standards
5. Using digital platforms to enhance accountability and efficiency
6. Using data and research to drive continual improvement

The Office of the Building Commissioner is also implementing ‘Project Remediate’, the NSW Government’s 3-year program supporting the remediation of combustible cladding through interest-free loans and extensive assurance services. 

This program involves:
• Engaging and overseeing a managing contractor to coordinate the triage, investigation, design, remediation, superintending and assurance certification of approximately 225 residential buildings
• Overseeing the coordination of multiple ‘assurance’ services to support quality remediation work including external service providers, expert panels and advisors and regulatory authorities
• Designing and implementing communications strategies to deliver messaging to a variety of stakeholders including building residents, owners, committee members, strata agents, local councils, regulators, media, Ministers and Members of Parliament
• Overseeing delivery of services contracted to external services providers
• Designing and implementing comprehensive data reporting to monitor progress and performance and provide real time data to program stakeholders
• Governance oversight including risk management, compliance, reporting and all necessary program support activities. 

Do you have experience in a regulatory environment and project management? Do you have a passion for delivering an exemplar response, prevention and enforcement activities, establishing relationships with stakeholder and community groups and building partnerships with industry?

To be successful in these roles, you will have:
• Demonstrated experience in applying knowledge and understanding of Project Management best practice methods, fundamentals and tools
• Sound understanding of the legislative framework in which we operate or demonstrated ability to quickly gain this understanding
• Highly developed organisational and communication skills with the ability to liaise and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in stakeholder management and confidence in working with staff at all levels across DCS to deliver program outcomes 
• Highly developed writing skills, with ability to research and prepare briefing notes, presentations, business cases and reports
• Ability to translate complex information into plain English for diverse audiences
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a solution focussed, consultative and collaborative approach
• Demonstrated high level personal motivation to deliver results. 

Experience in one of the following will be highly regarded:
•Communications and stakeholder engagement
•Data reporting and analysis
•Building or development industry
