  • Based in UniSA College at the City West campus
  • Part-time (0.8FTE), fixed term contract until 31 December 2024
  • Commencement Salary: $70,618 pro rata per annum (plus up to 17% superannuation)


About The Role

The Aboriginal Pathway (AP) Program is an 18 month pathway program that supports students with no previous qualifications for university study. The program is open to all people who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and can lead to entry into a university degree at the University of South Australia. All students undertake general courses to develop their tertiary learning, computing and academic literacy skills.

As an AP Metropolitan Tutor, you will provide high quality teaching and learning experiences for students enrolled into the AP program. You will play a role in the growth of the College programs through promotion and representation of the AP program, developing and maintaining strategic relationships with external stakeholders and communities.

    Core Responsibilities
    • Deliver teaching materials and ongoing tutorial support for students, implementing a range of teaching approaches
    • Provide learning support for students to assist retention and success
    • Implement strategies to ensure the programs meet the needs and expectations of relevant stakeholders
    • Liaise with the Wirringka Student Services Pastoral Care Support Officer to ensure Aboriginal Tutorial Assistance (ATP) tutoring is provided
    • Maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders and communities


    Essential Skills And Experience
    • A relevant tertiary qualification and a sound understanding of the needs of students undertaking enabling courses
    • A passion and commitment to equity, high level teaching and continuous improvement in education
    • Experience in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies including familiarity with online tools and Learning Management Systems, grade moderation and student consultation
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with and support Aboriginal students
