About the Project

AIE, part of Squadron Energy Group, is developing the Port Kembla Gas Terminal to facilitate the provision of LNG into the east coast market.

The PKGT is strategically located in an existing industrial port located a short distance (13km) from the existing Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP) which provides a major natural gas arterial between Victoria and NSW. Construction is forecasted to take 18-20 months, putting the project on track to supply more than 75 per cent of NSW’s gas needs by the end of 2022.

About the role

This role will see you providing environmental support to AIE, to assist the project achieve key milestones, improve environmental practice and manage environmental risks. Reporting to the HSE Manager you will play a critical role in supporting day to day operations and ensuring all reporting and regulatory compliance requirements are met. The role will:

  • Manage sub-contractor compliance to project specific environmental management plans. 
  • Provide environmental approvals advice including approvals strategies, project management and management of environmental studies for approvals purposes
  • Manage approval processes, clearing permits and heritage management
  • Collect, analyse, interpret and report on environmental data
  • Communicate the company's environmental approvals internally
  • Facilitate communications between Engineers, Technical staff and consultants with respect to Environmental matters

Please note this opportunity is initially a 2-year Fixed Term contract. 

About you

You will be an exceptional communicator, with the ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the project. In addition to;

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in an Environmental role on major projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NSW Environmental regulatory requirements for major construction projects
  • Ability to work autonomously on a major construction project
