JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an opportunity for a Senior Communications Advisor to be part of our Agriculture Food & Wine Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Senior Communications Advisor is part of the Communication and Digital Services Unit, responsible for the planning, development and implementation of effective integrated communication strategies to support the Red Meat and Wool Growth Program. This $7.5 million program contributes to improved productivity, profitability and enhanced market access, through strategic skill development and the installation of infrastructure and adoption of tools to increase the use of technology and data-based decision-making across the value chain. The role is required to work very closely and collaboratively with the Program team, including with key program partners and stakeholders in the livestock and AgTech sector, to proactively identify and develop opportunities for direct communication with audiences and cross-promotion with other work.

Sound knowledge, skills and experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and content writing are required, as well as outstanding relationship management and teamwork capabilities. Excellent judgment and a degree of political awareness are also essential to the role. The Senior Communications Advisor is expected to work effectively with a range of external suppliers including creative and design agencies, public relations agencies, media outlets and multimedia suppliers.

Requirements
  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
  • Term contract up to 12 months
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations
  • You may be required to undertake training and be willing to participate in emergency preparedness and response activities required by government agencies.

ASO6 $92,784 to 98,143 per annum
