  • Believe in the Power of Inspired Young People
  • Lead an Iconic Western Australian Organisation
  • Commercial Growth Strategy

The Y WA (previously YMCA WA) has been working in local communities across Western Australia for over 100 years providing opportunities for children and young people to grow in body, mind and spirit. Believing in the power of inspired young people, the Y WA services are designed to empower young people through early education, youth participation, health and wellness. In 2020 the Y WA delivered 66 services with participation from over 1.3 million community members and employed over 620 people in metro and regional WA. With a strong commercial growth strategy, including building and operating their first vocational school and further greenfield developments in Early Learning Centres, they are well placed for delivering continued social impact.

Reporting to the Board and working closely with the Management team, you will lead the organisation to achieve agreed milestones, overseeing future direction and identify opportunities for growth. You will ensure the organisation has good stewardship and collaboration with the Board to set and achieve strategic, financial and resourcing objectives. Harnessing a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence across the organisation, setting a standard of high quality service and operational delivery will be key. Furthermore as an advocate and facilitator of community events, engaging with relevant stakeholders you will lead the development and implementation of income generating strategies.

An inspiring, visible leader is required for this role. Your style will be authentic, accountable and punctuated by honest communication. Your values will be aligned with honesty, respect, responsibility and caring. You will have a strong connection with inspiring young people through either career or personal experience. Commercial and strategic acumen are equally essential, with experience in growing a business through diversified thinking and delivering sustainable operations. This will be demonstrated in a reputable track record as a CEO or General Manager in a significant business unit of a socially aligned organisation. Balancing leadership demands and maintaining a cohesive executive team, the Y WA requires a CEO with a strong sense of self, a strong and aligned value base and high empathy for others.

This is an opportunity to lead and grow a well-respected organisation that believes in the power of inspired young people and exists to make a difference in people’s lives.
