Reporting to the General Manager Media & Communications, the PR Manager provides strategic and operational leadership in the planning and delivery of Compare the Market’s proactive and reactive communication plans. We are seeking a talented, energetic and experienced professional to amplify our brand voice and benefits of our services, while engaging consumers and the media in our unique expertise and industry insights.

The PR Manager will be a key internal and external ambassador for Compare the Market, work closely with relevant internal teams to drive the curation and execution of timely, effective and informative media campaigns, while also supporting the delivery of longer-team strategic business plans. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess an extensive contacts book and have proven experience of generating high-impact PR opportunities for a consumer-focused brand. The PR Manager will be a great all-round team player who works collaboratively with other teams, can juggle multiple priorities and enquires at the same time, and can help mentor and support the younger members of the communications team.

They will use their critical thinking to question the status quo and to ensure a high standard of work is delivered and improved in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Help form, develop and execute an effective public relations strategy for Compare the Market
    • Responsible for quality control, delivery and coordination of team priorities
  • Be the main point of contact for inbound media enquiries and proactive engagement
  • Work closely with internal departments and external agencies to deliver highly engaging and informative media campaigns in line with business objectives
  • Monitor media coverage and provide relevant reporting
  • Leverage internal and external resources to seek out daily news angles and opportunities
  • Liaise with internal experts and spokespeople and provide briefing notes and guidance as required
  • Assist in the delivery of consumer-focused research/surveys to inform content and media opportunities
  • Maintain and build a contacts list of media outlets, journalists and digital publishers for each business vertical
  • Seek out new ways to grow awareness of Compare the Market through both traditional and emerging media channels


Knowledge And Experience
  • More than five years of public relations experience within a large organisation and/or customer-facing brand
  • A genuine interest in finance topics and desire to help consumer better-navigate their options
  • An extensive contact book of consumer and finance journalists and producers with Australia’s major broadcasters and publishers
  • Experience and enthusiasm for turning complicated topics/research/analysis into more easily digestible messages for consumers
  • Familiar working with media monitoring platforms/providers
  • Strong people skills and ability to form close working and professional relationships
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, plus an unrivaled eye for detail
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams as a key team player, or autonomously
  • Project management skills to manage schedules, deadlines and priorities
  • A good understanding of the comparison and finance industries would be an advantage
  • Formal qualifications in journalism, communications, public relations etc. (desirable)
