The purpose of this role is to pro-actively manage and accurately assess and determine impairment benefit claims.

The purpose of this role is to pro-actively manage and accurately assess and determine impairment benefit claims and manage disputes in accordance with the Accident Compensation Act 1985, the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 and WorkSafe guidelines, including the Online Claims Manual. To comply with all applicable legislative and policy timeframes and performance measures.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with Case Managers to effectively manage an impairment benefit claim from end to end, including completing liability assessments, attending and participating in ACCS (where required), draft medical panel submissions, Independent Impairment Assessor consultation/report requests and entitlement to impairment benefit calculation and determinations, review responses and process payments for any impairment benefits given.
  • Implement and maintain efficient, effective and required procedures and ensure timely communication of any procedural changes to the business. Review against current practices of continuous improvement
  • Provide reporting and information and responses to queries or correspondence in a timely manner and as required, including by WorkSafe and its external legal services providers
ABOUT YOU
  • Experience in workers compensation/personal injury claims management
  • Accreditation through WorkSafe AMA guide training
  • Sound experience in impairment benefit management, assessment and determination
  • Experience with Victorian workers compensation disputation and litigation processes
  • Full understanding of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (AC Act) and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRC Act)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the American Medical Association's Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, fourth edition (AMA4) and any subsequent editions as required and its applicability/modification to impairment benefits claims based on Victorian worker compensation legislation
