JOB DESCRIPTION

The within the is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to undertake research in the area of Robotics Perception with alternative sensing modalities. This includes localisation, mapping and simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) and aspects of data-driven approaches and analysis with magnetic, acoustic and bio-inspired sensing. It is expected to perform theoretical development and software implementation of an overall framework. The expected research outcomes are high quality research publications in perception and sensor fusion. This position will be under the supervision of .

About the role

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute as a researcher to project proposal preparation, project execution, report preparation and paper writing
  • Contribute as a presenter to the activities that can demonstrate to internal/external project stakeholders, the public, potential collaborators and/or visitors the research achievements/goals of the UTS Robotics Institute
  • Collaborate with the team leaders and other team members for project progress control, meeting, and related experiment design or platform design.
About you
  • PhD in Robotics or related discipline
  • Previous experience in robotics
  • Previous experience in design and implementation of estimation and perception algorithms
  • Ability to manage others and coordinate multiple project objectives
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (MATLAB, C++)
  • Knowledge of robotic perception techniques
  • Knowledge of Gaussian process and SLAM
  • Knowledge of optimisation techniques, calibration and synchronization of sensors
Remuneration/Salary

Base Salary Range: $107,132 to $126,796 pa (Level B)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 36 months.
