About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) has an exciting new opportunity for a Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) to join our team as the primary contact point to support people with disabilities to access SWH services.

The DLO will work to address barriers that prevent people with disabilities from accessing services including fear, uncertainty and issues with accessibility. In addition to supporting people with a disability to access COVID-19 assessment and treatment services, along with non COVID-19 services which may have been impeded by the current pandemic. This is a regional role, providing support to the other health services in the region as required.

This is a full time fixed term position for 6 months.

What you bring

The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting people with disability and have comprehensive knowledge of the range of generic and specialise service options available to consumers. Nursing or relevant Allied Health qualifications are essential and qualifications in disability or relevant experience are highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication are critical for this position along with a proven ability to work autonomously and within a team.

Employment Terms and Conditions will be in line with the Allied health Professionals (Victorian Public Health Sector) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement2016-2020 or Nurses And Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2016-2020, with the appropriate classification Allied Health Grade 2 or Registered Nurse Grade 3B.
