Job Summary

The purpose of the Phone Based Business Development Manager (PBBDM) role is to provide over the phone sales calls to advisers new to Zurich to help increase sales for the Zurich Life business. A key aim of this role is to build rapport, relationships and discuss the benefits and features of Zurich Life products and services to influence and encourage Advisers to start writing business with Zurich Life. The PBBDM will drive a new adviser’s proposal through to completion and then transfer the relationship over to Business Development Manager (BDM) team once a level of production is reached. The role will be a key part of the national Zurich sales strategy and can be viewed as an entry level sales role.

Job Qualifications

  • RG 146 Compliant.
  • Diploma of Financial Services / Degree qualified well regarded.
  • Previous Insurance experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated sales skills and conversion.
  • Knowledge of risk insurance, to be able to articulate the value of insurance, the underwriting, completion and claims process.

Job Accountabilities

  • Ability to make a high volume of calls per week to reach and convert advisers to write a minimum of one application with Zurich.
  • Provide a weekly report to Head of Sales on number of calls made, advisers called and strike rate status of those advisers.
  • Attend weekly strategy meeting to update on strike rate and provide feedback to the business.
  • Use CRM to record information and produce reporting.
  • Effectively manage segmentation of adviser in CRM and re-segment from un-segmented to segmented.
  • Effectively transition the relationship to a BDM as required.

Business Accountabilities

  • Be able to follow a sales campaign strategy either product based or key account based that results in an adviser writing business with Zurich.
  • In-depth understanding of Zurich products and of similar competitors products in the marketplace.
  • In-depth understanding of the risk administration/underwriting process and services.
  • Understanding of and ability to successfully implement sales techniques (particularly telephone sales) in the Financial Services market.
  • Understanding of structure and positioning of other players in the Financial Services market.
