Position: General Manager Marine Operations

Position Type: Full-Time

Location: Northern Tasmania based (Launceston 7250) constant time spent at our farms located at Strahan 7468 and Rowella 7270 TAS

Our client is seeking a highly experienced professional to head up their seawater operations at their marine farms located at Strahan and Rowella Tasmania and at prospective marine farm sites located around Tasmania. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated and professional team and lead the company Marine operations directly reporting to the CEO. The role will oversee and work with the site management at farms to ensure safe, effective, and environmentally sustainable management that results in healthy fish with efficient growth. 

Tasks required include:

  • Management oversight for the marine operations at our salmonid farms
  • Maintaining and developing the required operational resource to achieve the working plans of our marine farms
  • Management administration of marine operational budgets (OPEX and CAPEX)
  • Ensuring the execution of the operational plans in alignment with strategic deliverables
  • Continued focus and development of a safe working culture for all marine personnel
  • Driving a results focused continuous improvement culture that embraces technology and efficiency with a companywide one team communication approach
  • Further developing farming operations with attention on methodologies which support best in class environmental management and fish welfare
  • Developing human resource capability and competence at the farms


  • A degree or diploma in Science/Aquaculture
  • Extensive aquaculture and salmon farm experience in similar roles with a proven management record
  • Knowledge and experience with feed barges, square and circular pens, offshore operations, well boat operations,
  • International aquaculture experience (diverse knowledge) would be advantageous as would a working understanding of fish talk or similar software
  • The successful candidate will be highly experienced in aquaculture and salmon farming management (10 + years) and possess both strong technical and practical skills as well as high level people management skills and be results driven.
