Your Team:

The ES Transformation team is dedicated to driving transformative strategies and sustainable performance improvements across ES and the Group, focusing on:

The continued simplification and modernisation of the bank’s technology to deliver a simpler, more modern technology estate

Organisation simplification to streamline and simplify the ES organisational structure

Supporting alignment of business needs, strategic investments and target IT architecture

Driving best in class Agile practices

The ES Transformation Team reports to the GM Transformation Initiatives and operates under the delegated authority of the EGM ES Strategy, Performance and Program Delivery and CIO for Enterprise Services

Your Responsibilities:

The role is focussed on executing the transformation agenda of ES as well as driving the operational direction of our strategic projects. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of IT transformation across all of CBA in a role which drives a substantial portfolio of work including IT infrastructure, Ways of Working and productivity to ensure CBA delivers on its goal of becoming the Bank of Tomorrow.

Develop and support large-scale, enterprise-wide transformation initiatives which incorporate innovative solutions to address business challenges and achieve organisational goals and objectives

Develop and implement a transformation roadmap for existing and new transformation projects in line with the strategic agenda and priorities in ES

Drive to execution transformation initiatives across multiple workstreams (including the ability to identify and eliminate roadblocks, the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions)

End-to-end delivery of transformation initiatives from strategic planning, opportunity identification and through to implementation

Utilise agile principles, processes and tools to focus on driving financial and operational results

Provide independent advice and influence across delivery teams

Develop and maintain quality relationships with senior CBA leaders and key cross functional stakeholders and PMO teams

Embed and sustain transformational change through building a culture of change within business units

Analyse project metrics and financials, project forward impacts, mitigate undesirable outcomes, and provide assistance to stakeholders where required

Undertake any other tasks assigned by your manager that you have the capability to perform safely in line with relevant internal Bank policies and external regulatory requirements

This role reports in to the Head of Transformation. Via our our matrix structure you will work with business and technology stakeholders in order to understand and shape future business initiatives as well as influencing different delivery teams. Some of your stakeholders will include:

Platform stakeholders,

Your Skills & Experience:

Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.

Proven experience leading and delivering multiple large scale business transformation programs

Proven track record of building relationships and influence with senior stakeholders

Experience managing teams

Ability to lead, inspire and influence people to deliver exceptional outcomes and to drive to a performance culture

Updated knowledge of technology trends, especially as they relate to organisational transformation


Industry related tertiary qualifications required (eg business, finance, IT)


MBA preferred

Management consulting experience preferred

Project management (e.g. managing and/or implementing key projects, applying process excellence methodology, managing cross-business project teams, influencing and negotiating with others)

Financial management (e.g. managing a budget, P&L responsibilities, handling complex financial issues or financial reporting/processing)

People management (e.g. leading a team, developing others, handling difficult staffing and customer situations)
