Teck Highland Valley Copper Partnership (THVCP) is currently accepting applications for the position of Instrumentation Planner/Scheduler, Mill Maintenance.

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Mill Maintenance, the Instrumentation Planner/Scheduler, Mill Maintenance will be responsible for the planning and/or Scheduling of daily Instrumentation maintenance tasks in the crushing, grinding, flotation, filtering/drying, reclaim, and leaching areas of the milling complex. Planning responsibilities will include managing various maintenance strategies designed to maintain the health, reliability, and overall protection of equipment while keeping to a “Best Practice” planning standard of managing backlogs and SOP’s. Scheduling duties will consist of selecting and assigning “Ready to Schedule” work to future schedules, based on equipment priorities and available workforce and resources so that work can be executed in a safe efficient manner. Scheduling will also consist of managing daily break-in work.


  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures;
  • Develop and maintain a safe work environment through compliance with Teck’s Health & Safety Program and the BC Mines Act;
  • Make field inspections, as needed, to help achieve all aspects of Best Practice Standards;
  • Develop job/plan packages with necessary information to allow efficient scheduling and execution of work;
  • Participate in industrial relations and safety investigations as required;
  • Verify the scope of work to be performed is accurately captured on work orders;
  • Determine tasks and sequence necessary to accomplish work;
  • Identify health and safety risks for each task with required permitting;
  • Identify task durations and workforce requirements;
  • Develop adequate work instructions for each task;
  • Assist with the development of the 14-day schedule and the long range plan;
  • Ensure preventative maintenance compliance and that repair history is properly documented;
  • Assist in sourcing and requisitioning maintenance supplies, equipment and services within budgeted guidelines;
  • Construct schedules and confirm execution readiness;
  • Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as work backlogs to improve on maintenance efficiencies and availability;
  • Engage with execution supervisors and participate in weekly/daily planning meetings.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory/planning experience in a metallurgical processing plant;
  • Recognized trade qualification as an Instrumentation Technician or equivalent;
  • Understanding of planning and scheduling principles and procedures;
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and working knowledge of a computerized maintenance management system;
  • Must have Gr.12 or GED;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
