This position is responsible for encouraging, promoting and where necessary enforcing standards that will enhance the health and safety of the community and the natural and built environment. This includes conducting inspections, administration and enforcement of related legislation. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO

  • Undertake investigation and follow up for environmental and health complaints;
  • Conduct food premises inspections and follow up;
  • Conduct investigations into breaches of legislation including collecting evidence and taking statements; and
  • Conduct regulated premises.
  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or related discipline. Applicants nearing completion of their degree will be given consideration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Well-developed computer literacy and administration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and policy relevant to the Environment and Health functions of Council.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

You will be a dedicated and experienced Environmental Health professional, seeking a challenging role in a large Local Government Organisation. You will be confident in assisting the Team Leader in assessing the health and environmental impacts of proposed developments and have the ability to interpret and enforce legislative requirements when required. Salary: $76,073 - $88,409 per annum plus superannuation.
