  • Lead and conduct postharvest physiology research trials that simulate air and seafreight conditions to quantify impacts of handling and market access treatments and predict shelf life of vegetables
  • Coordinate supply of vegetables from Queensland and interstate growers, which will require independent travel to farms or collection points
  • Supervise casual and other research staff whilst in the laboratory, providing training and support
  • Liaise with industry and service providers to identify and test new technologies
  • Develop and evaluate innovative practices along the pre- and postharvest continuum, including integration with protected cropping systems
  • Manage the collation and analysis of trial data and contribute to modelling of vegetable responses
  • Develop and deliver advice, information products (e.g. reports, articles, papers) and decision aid tools to project collaborators, the vegetable industry and interested stakeholders
  • Identify strategic priorities of vegetable industry participants to develop and deliver coordinated RD&E programs
  • Foster relationships with funding agencies and other RD&E providers
  • Contribute expertise to the team's research into other crops such as avocado, citrus and mango and to the broader market access program
