This is a three (3) month fixed term, part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2021 with possible extension and/or permanency

East Maddington Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Officer to join their team.

The School Officer provides key liaison and helps support co-ordination and delivery of administrative and customer focused support services within our school. The successful applicant will have a focus on team work, self-motivation and model effective customer and administrative support service delivery.

As a School Officer, you are required to co-ordinate and help plan workload management for yourself and other team members. The successful applicant will require the skills and ability to support administration and management of financial and human resources within the school.

A working knowledge of INTEGRIS school data base, RM Billing and In Design software would be an advantage.

East Maddington PS is situated in Maddington on a 3.91 ha site which includes a specialist music room, a computer laboratory, a Language Development Centre, and a Dental Therapy Unit.

We provide a wide range of programs and specialist support for your child with programs tailored to your child's experience, needs and passions.

Our specialist programs include music, physical education, information technology and Indonesian. Children in Years 5 and 6 also have the opportunity to learn guitar. As a Waste Wise School your child will learn about healthy eating through cooking and gardening lessons. This will also link with the development of your child's STEM skills (science, technology, engineering and Mathematics) - skills that will develop them into lifelong learners.

We encourage you to be involved in your child's education, either informally through regular contact with your child's teacher, or formally through our P&C Association or School Board. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Experience in providing general office administrative support with ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • Complete the Department's training
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
