WHO WE ARE:

Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.

As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.

ROLE SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for managing VICSES's information security and governance program, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and working with business units to align information management, security requirements and business initiatives.

The role must focus the protection of VICSES people and its assets, utilising practical, risk-based governance and compliance regimes and conducting all work in accordance with VICSES values.

The scope of responsibility extends to all four pillars of security systems for our personnel, physical locations, technology, and information, including our manual and electronic information stores.

The key business areas of responsibility include the implementation and management of an information security management framework, records management, freedom of information and privacy matters.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, however maintaining an independent role, advising the Executive Management Team regarding privacy, data, and security matters. This extends to the management and advice of any Freedom of Information requests, reports of alleged breaches and assistance with breach investigations.

As a peer to fellow managers and to ensure the proper use and protection of information, the role provides advice and support to fellow managers as required as well as to provide education and awareness.

The position being offered is a VPS 6.1, Ongoing Full Time position. VICSES are anticipating a reorganisation which could impact and change this position.
